RNS Group Chairman, Dr. R N SHETTY, is a pioneer in the field of technical education. The RNS School of Architecture (RNSSA) is added to the group’s already existing educational facilities in the campus to commemorate his 90th birthday.

RN Shetty Trust is a philanthrophic act of our esteemed Chairman, who owns the RNS Group of Companies, who are into construction, apartments, power generation, Hotels, car dealership, manufacturing of vitrified tiles, etc. The mission of the promoting body is to foster and educate the younger generation of Architecture students to work towards burning issues as mentioned below:

1. Housing for the urban poor and eradication of slums.
2. Rural Housing and rural settlement planning.
3. Cost effective technology for the masses.
4. Sustainabililty issues in shaping the Built-environment.

With an intention to provide quality architectural education the group has established RNSSA, to produce the best Architects in the country. RNSSA is approved by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi and affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.

Our mission is to provide an educational environment where students can reach their full potential in their chosen discipline and become responsible citizens without compromising in ethics and also a scholarly environment where the talents of both, the faculty members and students are nurtured and utilised to create knowledge and technology for the benefit of the society. The idea behind RNSSA is to help students free themselves from the traditional ways of looking at things and instead constantly question and challenge themselves, society and the world at large. We at RNSSA believe in the paradigm of “Learning by Doing” . Students are encouraged to learn various aspects of Architecture by interacting with professionals in the field and engaging themselves in putting up pilot projects with the help of the various trades associated with the building industry.

In keeping with the Motto of RNSSA, “Think Globally : act locally” , right from its inception RNSSA intends to have a healthy interaction with Architecture Schools in the West. The principal has close contacts with Architecture Schools and prominent Architect-academicians in Germany who have been inducted into the Academic Advisory body. The students and the faculty would vastly benefit from this collaboration.
