Vision/Mission: S.S. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Davangere was started functioning from 2002 (Hospital) and College started in the year 2006 to provide need based health care to all sections of the population, offers the best education to mould students into competent & responsible professionals and connects all rural health centres in and around Davangere and provides them with all required medical aids.

The Campus: The institute is spread over a vast area of 130 acres of land on the National Highway No – 4 with excellent infrastructure, Hi-Tech Health care facility, Broad roads, Hospital and learning resource are Eco-friendly. The hostels accommodate more than 1400 students with International standards.

Library: To provide a good collection of information resources and services to users, we have 13400 books, National and International journals, and complete user friendly solution gateway for accessing the electronic resources under HELINET consortium.

Student amenities: Indoor stadium, Auditorium, Vast play ground, Food Court (Canteen), Co-operative Society with all the needs for students and staff, Bank, ATM etc..
Faculty: We have experienced and dedicated faculties. Many Medical teachers awarded in State and National level.

Skill Lab/Simulation Laboratory: Advanced Manikins are using to teach students with specified infrastructure.

This brings us to develop a good rapport with the Board California. This helps Doctors who would like to have further training, experience and qualifications by the Medical Board of California, USA.

The scientific Journals, Journal of Public Health and Medical Research and Journal of Education Research (JPHMR) and Medical Teacher (JERMT). Journal of Pediatrics Pulmonology & Critical Care (JOPPCC) so far published around several articles by the authors from different institutions, not only from Karnataka and other states, also from different countries.

Genetic laboratory in the department of Anatomy started working in the year 2012. A 1st of its kind in central part of Karnataka. We have analyzed several cases till date. Many of the analyzed cases showed structural & numerical chromosomal anomalies like Down’s-Turner’s syndrome & Klinefelter’s syndrome, some with chromosomal deletions, inversions, Iso-chromosomes, Down syndrome, Turner’s syndrome & Infertility cases.

The cases sent by the clinician to the laboratory also includes are infertility primary amenorrhea, mental retardation, ambiguous genitalia, (Androgen insensitivity) Intersex & chimerism.

S.S Institute of medical sciences and research Centre 870 bedded hospital, has advanced services like 24×7 intensive care unit, emergency services like trauma care and casualty services. The institute has got all world-class updated infrastructures, equipments trained staff and very advanced gadgets. The Department of plastic surgery advance laser ablation and in the department of Urology laser machines which are of world-class status.

The Department of pain management has got advanced cold laser machine, also doing latest techniques of nerve blocks laser ablation and advanced pain management clinics.
The Department of Urology equipped with latest all necessary gadgets for the management of urogenital conditions.

The Department of Neurology has been equipped with latest advanced Sleep Lab and Nerve conduction studies and video monitoring EEG. Department is doing all types of spinal surgeries, cranial surgeries and the tumour excision procedures. We have advanced Endoscope and same type of equipments are present in the department of paediatric nephrology and ENT. The institute is serving round the clock in providing free OPD to all poor patients in and around Davangere and middle part of Karnataka.

The institute has got well-equipped intensive care unit with all latest gadgets to save the life of very sick patients which are referred from surrounding villages. The institute is also providing Blood Bank services which is supplying the largest amount of blood and blood products in central part of Karnataka. The Blood Bank has also got unique equipment, which is known as single platelet donor or plasmapheresis machine.

The Department of emergency medicine has got a team of intensivist and trauma care management, well equipped ICU on wheels ambulances which are equipped with even transportation crew which is well coordinated with the hospital. Hospital is giving services to all patients with all type of insurance schemes and government services like ABRK,ABY and ESI.

The institute also made an arrangement to serve the Covid patients in a large extent, One complete wing for Covid patients with nearly 250 oxygen beds, 30 intensive care unit beds and 40 beds for ventilators. All these beds are equipped with multimode monitors infusion pumps and syringe pumps. The hospital is providing regular free health Check up camps in and around Davangere Every year nearly 30 to 40 free health camps will be conducted around Davangere.

The hospital is conducting regularly world class clinical trials which are basically on drugs and equipments. The institution has got tie-up with advanced countries like UK and Spain for research on advanced care of needy patients.

The faculty members are trained and worked in abroad and many of the staff members are faculty for national training programmes and authors for many text books. The publications are in progress on Covid epidemic. The institution has served nearly 3000 Coivd inpatients and 4000 outpatients with the extraordinary outcome, conducted nearly 60,000 patients lab test.

More than 40000 Covid Positive Home Isolation patients were triaged, treated and counsilled by our Final year MBBS students with the Guidance of our institute of Master Trainers in Coordination with Govt. of Karnataka and RGUHS.

The Department of radiology it is well equipped with 128 slice CT scan and MRI, mammogram and digital radiography which are world-class with all newer modalities. The hospital is planning to have all latest robotic surgeries, organ transplants, telemedicine and bone marrow transplant and human milk bank
